Gary Atkins has extensive and widespread industry knowhow with an insurance career dating back to 1986. His varied experience across both personal and commercial insurance, including contingency cover for more unusual and complex issues, means he is able to provide in-depth, insightful advice.
Joining Robert Gerrard in 1998, Gary has played a key role in the commercial insurance team since 2003 and is responsible for Construction Plan, the specialist insurance solution for the building industry. Gary’s extensive expertise is also put to good use advising businesses on all areas of property insurance, including cover for offices, retail outlets and restaurants. Wholesalers, manufacturers, retailers and other business owners appreciate his integrity and the fact they can rely on him taking a personal interest in insuring their livelihoods.
Away from the office, as well as swimming and tennis, Gary enjoys running and completed a marathon, raising funds for Macmillan Cancer.
Getting to know Gary better …
- What is your favourite childhood memory?
Hearing an unrecognisable deep voice in the house on Christmas Eve and thinking it was You Know Who.
- What would be your perfect meal?
Pie and mash with the family. It’s something I grew up on as a child, but don’t get the chance to have it much these days.
- What is your favourite film or TV programme?
Jaws. I like the setting and would love to live in a place like that. Minus the shark though!
- What is your favourite music / song / artist or band?
I like Pink Floyd and Neil Young.
- What is your favourite book or magazine?
I enjoy reading Arthur Miller. Death of a Salesman is one of my favourite books.
- What country would you most like to visit and why?
I’d love to go to New York. I’ve seen it so much on film that I feel like I already know it.
