Team RG donned aprons and came together on Friday 27th September to raise over £200 for people living with cancer by hosting an event as part of Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
And what a great day it was! We decided to do something slightly different, so as well as nominating cake bakers, we branched out and organised breakfast and lunch too.
Mark Bayford and myself stepped into the official cake baking roles, whilst Carla took care of breakfast, a choice of homemade granola or delicious sandwiches made with locally bought sausages. Claire Matthews laid on a lovely lunch consisting of ham and/or cheese baguettes.
We also nominated the day as a dress-down and donned green tops in exchange for a donation.
Every pound counts and at the end of the day we’d raised a brilliant £101 which Robert Gerrard kindly matched to bring the grand total to £202 for Macmillan Cancer Support. So all in all, a fantastic success.
Macmillan is almost entirely funded by donations and simply cannot support the growing number of people with cancer who need them without the public’s help. Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer. There are over 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK and this is set to grow to almost 4 million by 2030.
Anyone can support people with cancer in their own community to live life as fully as they can by hosting or attending a Macmillan Coffee Morning. To learn more visit www.macmillan.org.uk/coffee
Massive thanks to everyone who supported us!
