44 runners, 7 teams, and copious amounts of mud… the Meangate Mud Run in aid of the UK Lift Industry Charity proved to be a great success in many ways.
Saturday 11th March was (thankfully!) a beautifully sunny day and our 12-strong team was raring to get to grips with the challenge that lay ahead, spurred on by an enthusiastic fan club made up of family and friends including our very own ‘Paparazzi Katie’ who would be constantly on our trail capturing our every emotion.
Morale was right up there all day, both from a team perspective and in terms of the whole event. It was great to get all our partners and kids together and really uplifting to see everyone working together as a team, helping each other over (and under) the vast hurdles to get to that distant finish line.
Team RG was up against a string of renowned names from the lift industry: A&A Electrical, Elevators Limited, Griffin Elevators, Ardent Lift Consultants and Guideline Lift Services plus Elevation Magazine, the organisers of the event.
Our congratulations to A&A Electrical who were the fastest in the 8km team event. We’ll see you at the trophy presentation! Yes – team RG pulled off not just one win – but three, coming in as fastest in the 4km team event and with our Gary Atkins’ son Sam ranking as fastest 8km individual and daughter Alice as fastest 4km individual. Go team RG!
But of course it’s not the winning that counts. The most important thing was that together all the teams raised £400 for the UK Lift Industry Charity which everyone agreed was great going considering it was the first event of its kind. We hope that future events – which include another mud run and a clay pigeon shoot – will attract even more interest and net more proceeds for this excellent cause.
