Team RG: Getting Seriously Muddy In Support Of The Lift Industry Charity

The UK Lift Industry Charity came about after a group of like-minded people felt there should be something in place to provide help to industry colleagues when faced with challenging times.

The group began to organise fundraising events and it wasn’t long before it became apparent that there were many other people who wanted to offer their assistance. So a formal charity was set up and the UK Lift Industry Charity was officially registered in 2007.

In the decade that followed, the charity has made a raft of donations to individuals and families of individuals who have been injured or who have lost their lives during the course of their work within the lift industry.

The charity’s mission is ‘to relieve financial hardship and provide appropriate support where required to industry colleagues and their families who have been injured whilst working or employed with the industry’.

Raring to Get Muddy

In support of the Lift Industry Charity, Robert Gerrard has put together a mud-loving team of raring-to-go runners who are all prepped and ready to take on the major challenge of the ‘Meangate’ Mud Run on Saturday 11 March 2017.

Meangate is an extreme cross country obstacle course set amidst the rolling hills and woods of the Deangate Ridge Sports Complex in Rochester, Kent.

Facing around 50 obstacles such as tunnels, straw bale hurdles, tyre walls, trenches, swamps, ponds, scramble nets and, of course, copious amounts of mud, Team RG’s strength, stamina and resolve will certainly be put to the test. Some of us are tackling the 4km course whilst others are going, perhaps foolishly, for the full 8km.

Look out for an after-the-event update on this blog and our Facebook page where we’ll also be posting plenty of photos. Hopefully you’ll be able to recognise us through our muddy overcoats!
