Crostyx Hockey Club Update 2014

It’s high time for a report on our Crostyx Hockey Club juniors who we proudly sponsor, and we’re delighted to say we’ve got plenty of good news to share so far in 2014!

January Jubilation

The year got off to a flying start at the prestigious tournament in Brentwood in January. The Under 12 girls finished in 3rd place with a bronze medal: a remarkable improvement on last year and a sign of even greater achievements to come next season. The Under 10 boys finished 5th out of 7 teams which was a fantastic effort considering it was their first time in this competition. The Under 12 boys, playing amongst an exceptional standard, won 2 out of 5 games, finishing on a high with a win against local rivals Old Loughtonians.

February Feats – and Clean Sheets

The Essex Mini League in February was quite a tournament, and there was a new coaching partnership for the Under 12 boys, involving yours truly! What a day it was: beautiful sunshine and four clean sheets! We played four matches and won them all: 5-0, 6-0, 5-0 and 3-0. The Under 10s boys also played a great tournament with 3 wins out of 4 and 1 draw. There was a full set of wins for the Under 12s girls too – 3 out of 3 – and the Under 10s girls did well with a win and a draw out of their 3 matches.

Massive Achievements in March

March saw the Essex round of the England Hockey Board In2Hockey National Championships. It’s really something to be a part of and the Under 10 boys took their game to new heights finishing 4th and setting their sights on a top two spot for next season. The Under 12 girls finished a commendable 3rd after playing through a tough group. It’s a massive achievement to get results like this in such a competitive national championship.

What a start to the year – huge congratulations to everyone involved – and here’s to continued successes for 2014 which we’ll be reporting on later in the year!
