Crostyx Hockey Club Juniors: Season Round-Up

As long-term sponsors of Crostyx Hockey Club Juniors it makes us very proud to have such a positive end of season report to share.

2012/13 was the juniors’ first full competitive season and it was an incredible success. Membership increased to 80-plus and a ‘back to hockey’ and under eights group was introduced which further boosted interest in the club.

The good news continued on the competition front too with the juniors steaming to victory as winners of their division of the Essex Mini League. They achieved some outstanding results and are waiting to see if their request for promotion to Division 2 will be successful. Fingers crossed! They also won the end of season vase for their league.

Up Against National League Sides

The juniors found themselves up against some big national league sides in their first indoor tournament, and gained invaluable experience for next season. As reported in a previous post, they were also one of just a few clubs to enter sides into every one of the Essex In2Hockey tournament where they enjoyed more victories and the under-ten boys got through to the semi-finals – quite an achievement on their first attempt! And in the under-fourteens development league, the boys won most of their games.

The Cake Bit …

It’s rare for one of my blog posts to go by without mentioning cakes so here comes the cake bit … Crostyx Juniors this year hosted their own, first ever Essex mini league tournament and in the process raised £400 from the sale of food and cakes – so a good season all round!

Everyone is looking forward to next season, to aiming higher and continuing success for all the teams. The club is also looking to get into more schools to offer hockey coaching, to run hockey camps and generally fortify what is fast becoming a hockey force to be reckoned with.

Good luck from all of us here at Robert Gerrard!
